It is harder than ever for parent groups to raise money through sales of wrapping paper and food. Shopping certain stores or buying specific products can raise big bucks.
Schools are seeking outside sources for money as budgets continue to face cuts. Many companies are offering ways to raise money for one's school while families purchase the things they would routinely buy. Pass on these suggestions to the local parent teacher organization and ask them to publicize it school-wide. Even if every family chose just one option, thousands of dollars could be made throughout the school year. Earn Money for Schools Through Target With a Target REDcard, families can designate their school as the Take Charge of Education program recipient. Target will track purchases made by participating REDcard holders. Two times a year, a no-strings-attached donation check will be sent directly to the school principal. That's it. Parents just shop as they normally would at Target and Target will take care of the rest. Make Money for Schools Through the General Mills America's schools have earned over $250 million over the past 12 years by simply cutting out those little box tops that can be found on products ranging from tissues to cereals to frozen foods through the Box Top for Education program. In addition, the Reading Room (located on the Box Tops website) has linked up with Barnes and Noble to offer 6% of the total B&N purchase to the school.
